Out with the Old in October!

Well, October was definately about change and transitions! Jaxon grows more and more everyday and it is so much fun to be able to watch him develop. We started the month by visiting Jonathan's grandparents in Howenwald, TN. It was his grandfathers birthday, so we spent the day eating and visiting with family.

A little calm before the storm I guess you could say, because the next week was the big move! We still had no word whether or not our offer was going to be accepted, but fortunately our agent worked out an agreement where we could go ahead and move into the house, since it was empty anyway. That was great news because we really didn't want to rent an apartment since it was going to hopefully be very short-term. However, we were taking the chance of having to move again if we did not get the house. With that being said, we decided to keep the majority of our stuff in storage and only unpack the basics.

So, Jaxon was not only adjusting to a new daycare, now he would be adjusting to a new house as well. Poor guy- he didn't really know what to think! The move came at a decent time though, since I was on Fall Break, but Jonathan was in the middle of a big conference, so he was working really long hours and I was packing (well....as much as you can with a one year old). Fortunately my good friend, Lindsey, helped me out by watching Jax while I packed. The move affected Jaxon more than I expected. He was pretty sad to leave his room. When we were leaving his room for the last time, he actually said "Bye-Bye room." He also told every animal on his wall bye and waved to them. It was a sad, but sweet moment.

After the hectic week and the big move, Jonathan and I decided to take a little time together and spend the weekend in Tunica. He had a show down there with Billy Currington, so grandma came and spent the weekend with Jaxon while I tagged along with Jonathan. It was nice to escape the chaos for a little while and we had a great time. We went to the show and then spent the next day in Memphis visiting Graceland. We had never toured Graceland before, so we had a lot of fun. It was SO neat and we both loved it!

Jaxon also had his fall festival at daycare that month. Mimi came down to spend the weekend with us and Jaxon had a ball at the festival. It was so funny. He played and played!

Of course, with Halloween coming up, we had to make time for the annual pumpkin carving event with the Smith's. We do this every year and have so much fun! This year Jaxon was definately into pumpkins! He loved to look at pumpkins and talk about them. He could spot a pumpkin from a mile away! We actually had to take him out of the pumpkin patch crying because he did not want to leave.

Our last adventure of October, was, of course, Halloween. After trying on a few costumes (dragon, horse), Jaxon decided to be a monkey. He was really into Curious George and he liked pretending to be a monkey sometimes, so we thought this was a good fit - plus it was a warm costume for a chilly night. The one problem that we were worried about was the fact that he hates costumes! Everytime he tried on a costume, he cried and refused to wear it. Believe it or not, it's like he knew what he was supposed to do when it came time. He put on his monkey costume and paraded around with everyone else. We went with our good friends the West's and had a blast. The kids were so cute!!
